The Providence Christian College athletic department is excited to announce the hiring of Robert Simmons as Head Athletic Trainer. Simmons graduated from the University of La Verne and earned his Master's degree from Azusa Pacific University. He has worked with several professional sports teams including the Long Beach Ice Dogs, the Ontario Reign and the Orange County Blues FC. Simmons has worked for UCLA the past nine years where he has had the pleasure of working exclusively with the Bruin Men's Ice Hockey program who won a PAC 8 Championship during his time of service. While earning his Masters Degree at Azusa Pacific he worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer and Adjunct Professor. During that time he was blessed to have worked with the APU Men's Tennis program during their National Championship season.
Simmons is a Southern Californian native and is an avid hockey player and golfer. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Providence family and looks forward to being a part of the Sea Beggars' future success. When asked about what it means to join the Providence community Simmons reflected, "I feel blessed to join the team being assembled at Providence Christian College. I'm excited to see how the Lord blesses our work. Creating a program is an exciting endeavor and I consider it a privilege to provide the very best health care possible to the student athletes."
Simmons favorite Bible verses are Matthew 6:33-34 and Proverbs 3:5-6.
"But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
