Golf in the Low Country

The Providence Christian Women's Golf team teed it up for their first competition this spring at the Monument Golf Oldfield event hosted by University of South Carolina Beaufort. The event was headlined by host USCB and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), ranked 19th & 5th respectively in the NAIA nationally.

Denise Litonjua (SO/Arcadia, CA) again led the Sea Beggars in scoring with rounds of 84, 95, and 91 for a total of 270. Teammate Kaitlyn Robinson (JR/Siloam Springs, AR) was leading in scoring for Providence with rounds of 84 and 90 before having to withdraw, fighting illness. Robinson battled through a head cold on day 1 over 36 holes, posting the team best rounds of 84 and 90. Kiara Paul (JR/Westminster, CA ) rounded out the Lady Sea Beggar contention and posted rounds of 90, 93, and 94.

"The ladies were just a touch off in our first spring event but show signs of improvement with solid ball striking in stretches. With a little improvement in our short game area, all three Lady Sea Beggars have the potential to be breaking 80 each round. It was a great trip to the other side of the country, and we enjoyed spending some time in what's commonly referred to as "the low country". USCB was a fantastic host and put on a great event.

The Lady Sea Beggar trio will soon be joined by volleyball standout Jordyn Moser (SO/Prescott Valley, AZ), which will allow Providence to post team scores rounding out the spring season at conference. The addition of Moser will add some much-needed depth and should help infuse the team with a little extra firepower.

The ladies tee it up again at The Masters University Spring Invite, hosted at Crystalaire CC on April 4thand 5th.
