Providence Christian women's soccer gets their first win of the season for the Lady Sea Beggars against the Saint Mary's College Belles (IN).

In a closely contested match on August 30, 2024, the Lady Sea Beggar women's soccer team won their first game of the season against Saint Mary's College with a final score of 1-0. The lone goal of the game came from Providence sophomore Sutton Denny at the 22:42 mark, putting her team ahead early in the first half. Denny found herself receiving the ball off a clearance from the Belle's and their goalkeeper off her line, allowing her to find the back of the net in what was ultimately the game winner. 

The game was marked by a high level of intensity, with both teams creating scoring opportunities throughout the match and battling to the final whistle. Providence goalkeeper Kassandra Ramirez put on a stellar performance and made a total of seven saves to secure the shutout. Ramirez came up huge in the second half, keeping her back line organized and turning away several potential scoring opportunities. The Sea Beggar defense was able to hold strong as the Belles put up a ferocious fight in the second half, creating eight shots on goal. The Lady Sea Beggars were efficient on both sides of the ball, which made the difference in the end.

The match's physicality was evident throughout, and both teams demonstrated skill and determination throughout the game. With their strong defensive plays and timely goal scoring, Providence Christian was able to secure the win, and the victory will surely boost their confidence as they continue their season. Overall, even in a hard-fought battle, the Lady Sea Beggars were able to capitalize on their scoring opportunity to come away with the victory.

The Lady Sea Beggars return to action on Thursday, September 5th, when they host the University of Providence from Great Falls, MT. The game is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. and will be played at Pasadena's Villa Parke.
