Senior Summer Excursions 2023

Senior Summer Excursions 2023

Providence Christian College's volleyball seniors, Jordyn Moser and Valeria Garcia, had exciting summers filled with eventful activities and experiences.

Jordyn Moser had the incredible opportunity to represent Providence Christian College in Europe. She connected with college volleyball players from all over the United States and proudly represented her college and the Lord. Moser traveled to nine different cities in just ten days, with Florence, Venice, and Bellagio being her favorite places. This experience allowed her to reflect on the opportunities that God has given her through volleyball and reminded her not to take her senior year for granted. Moser is excited for the upcoming season, both for the returning players and the new recruits. During the spring season, the team sat down with the coaches to set goals, with the main focus being to be good representatives of the Lord and to give their all on and off the court for Him.

Valeria Garcia spent her summer reporting for WORLD News Group in Sioux Center, Iowa. She was chosen for this all-expense-paid trip through a reference from Providence professor Dr. Lance Croy. Dordt University, a Providence sister school, hosted the course. Garcia reported on various events, including the story of a Ukrainian immigrant seamstress, the 303 Creative LLC vs. Elenis Supreme Court case, and the start of Sen. Tim Scott's campaign trail for the presidency. She had the privilege of working alongside veteran broadcast personalities such as Carl Azuz and Brian Basham, and even had the opportunity to work with Lynn Vincent, the author of "Heaven is for Real." Garcia also reported on the Tulip Festival in Orange City, Iowa, which celebrates Dutch culture. This experience allowed her to represent Providence on a national level in a real-world professional setting. As a Christian journalist, Garcia applied biblical principles to her career and work, seeking to spread truth and give a voice to the voiceless. She credits her coaches, Coach Lauryn and Coach Athena, for guiding her to stand firm as a daughter of God in everything she does. They have taught her the importance of representing Christ on and off the court and have continued the positive growth of Sea Beggar volleyball. Garcia's goals for the season are to be champions of character by serving others and working as a unit on the court. She feels competitive and ready to dominate their matchups with the confidence instilled in her experiences and by her coaches.

Both Moser and Garcia had summers of impact filled with personal and professional growth. They are excited to bring their experiences and lessons learned into the upcoming volleyball season at Providence Christian College.
